Art the Cure For Bare Walls

Need art for your walls, but don’t seem to have the budget?

Most of us purchase a home considering the mortgage, escrow payments, and common expenses.

You budget for utilities, home services, appliances, furniture, even the colors you want to paint your walls.

I was just like this some years ago. Seriously, I had no vision, or should I say I didn’t exercise my creative side when it came to decorating a home. It wasn’t until I became a first time home buyer in 2007 that I realized how many walls were bare. I mean I had pretty furniture but nothing to tie the look I was going for all together once the paint was added.

When I was a nail tech, I always said that I wanted to try painting on a canvas when I purchased my first home, so this started my passion for creating art on canvas.

I know everyone is not an artist, but everyone does have walls. And in most cases they are bare or have artwork that has nothing to do with the space or your personal style. If you are a seasoned collector or have a keen sense of design style, this message isn’t for you. But if you are struggling with where to start please read on.

Do you have an idea of what you’d like to see in your space? Whether it be your great/living room, bedroom, dining room, or foyer—what have you envisioned? A great place I recommend looking for great ideas for space design would be Houzz and watching design shows on HGTV, YouTube and the Like.

Once you decide on a vision for your space, you want to create some goal in writing along with dates to have them finished. Goals should be finished in stages so that you are not overwhelming yourself. The more help you have the better. Create a budget that you want to spend on each space and get started on the progress. You may already have the furniture you want in a particular room, but the floor coverings, accessories, wall color, and artwork are missing. Decide if you are going to work with an interior designer, your spouse and family, or additional hired help.

Break the tasks down week by week. One weekend you may spend painting, another weekend you may spend shopping for what you need, the other you may spend going to look at art locally or online. Before you know it you will be finished with one room, and on to the next. In any event you will fall in love with your new space and most of all you will admire and enjoy the art you collected for many years to come.
